- 80, of Louisville, passed away on November 30, 2021 following a short but courageous battle against cancer.
- She graduated from Shawnee High School. She married Eddie Lee Lerding in 1962; they were together 47 years until his death in 2009. Sue was a registered nurse and worked at the old Children's Hospital until her daughter was born when she became at stay-at-home mom. She was a wonderful, loving and devoted mother to her daughter Karin, her son the late Eric, and her dog Mischli. She returned to the workforce as her children entered their teens and had a long career at the American Red Cross.
- She is survived by Karin (Jon Ukman), sister-in-law Susan Lerding and nephew Mark Riddle (Robin).
- She is preceded in death by her son, Eric, her mother Gertrude Wills, her sister, Mary Jane Riddle, her aunt and uncle Marguerite and Ed Humphrey.
- Her family expresses its appreciation to Sue's lead caregiver, Christin Miller, who did everything possible for Sue and Karin. Thanks also to Linda Simpson as well as caregivers Abby, Hailey, Jamie, Mary, Pearl, Sandra and Vickie and also to Beverly Moore, who helped Sue for more than a decade. Karin wants to thank her Aunt Susan for helping in many ways, but especially for being the best new mom to Mischli.Karin also wishes to acknowledge Sue's dear friend Phil Bullock, who made her last few years special.
- Funeral service will be 11am Tuesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2-7pm at the funeral home.
- Expressions of sympathy may be made to American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
