    October 08, 1942 - April 21, 2025

  • Linda Delane Bernard Moore, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on April 21, 2025. She was born on October 8th, 1942, to the late Byron Harold Bernard and Elizabeth Bernard. Linda lived a life of great strength, deep love, and the fullness of her family. Simply put, she lived with purpose.
  • Linda had great success in the world of business after graduating from Eastern Kentucky University. For a time she served as the vice president of Future Girls, whose purpose was to help young women find their place in the business world. She followed this with a successful stint as a real estate agent and ended her professional career as a legal assistant to John Allen Taylor.
  • Inarguably the most important event in Linda's life was meeting John Howard Moore, a fellow student at Eastern Kentucky University. They fell for each other quickly, and married on September 1st, 1962. A little over a year later, they welcomed their only child, also named John, who brought so much love, joy, and pride to Linda's life. Linda and John were married for 62 years, and grew in their commitment to each other with every passing day. John cared for Linda for many years as she battled a number of physical challenges, and Linda returned the favor by being, in John's description, “so easy to be married to. She was pretty, she was smart, she was fun, she was energetic, and she was everything that a guy could hope for.” Their love inspired many, and will continue to.

  • Linda and John enjoyed many years spent in Seaside, Florida at the house they built and owned for over 20 years, Moore Fun. Linda also put her decorative skills to good use in Seaside, winning an award from Better Homes and Gardens magazine for her interior decorating of the house. They made friends everywhere they went, and treasured their time together.
  • In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Becky Humphrey, and brothers, Harold Bernard and Mike Bernard. She is survived by her sister, Delores Gabbert and brother, Steve Bernard. The siblings were close from a young age and have continued to build and expand their legacy as a family as years have gone by.
  • Left to cherish their love is her husband, John, of 62 years. Left to continue her legacy is her son, John (Kimi), granddaughter, Gracie, and grandson, Adam (Erin). She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, as well as many friends who always enjoyed her company.
  • The family would like to thank The Forum at Brookside, Jefferson Place, Norton Hospital, and Helping Hands for the compassionate care they all helped to provide over the past few years. There was always great comfort in knowing she was in such good and caring hands.
  • Linda was loved deeply, and she will be loved deeply forever. She was, to complete her husband's description of her, “one of a kind.”
  • Visitation will take place on Friday April 25th at Ratterman Brothers East Louisville Funeral Home from 3-7, as well as on Saturday April 26th at Ratterman from 11-1. The service will follow at Ratterman at 1:00.
  • In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Linda's name to the National Kidney Foundation or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
