  • LAYMAN, Rev. Phyllis Miller R.T., passed away at her home with her family at her side, Monday, October 1, 2012. She was born August 18, 1942 to Jesse Oval and Catherine Mattingly Miller and preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Wanda Rowena Miller.
  • In her early years Phyllis worked as a registered X-ray technician and after the birth of her children she turned her attention to them as a mother, wife and homemaker. Her later years were highlighted by her licensing and ordination to the Gospel Ministry of God's word. She delivered that Word on three continents and in five states in the USA encouraging both women and men alike. Her ministry touched many lives with the good news of the saving grave of Jesus Christ. She will be missed by many.

  • She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Rev. Jim Layman; two daughters, Laura L. Meeks (Kent) and Melissa L. Porter (Andy); grandson, Christian J. Porter; and three nieces, Rachel Argabright (Brian) and Kathleen and Allyson Layman.
  • Her funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Pearson Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 12 Noon-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
