EDDIE BRIGGS

2017

  • Hi There To All Been snowbirds for 11 years and permantly for 4 years which is a total for the past 15 years. We live in a little town called Dunedin, which is due north of Clearwater. We had mandatory evacutation on Fri. Sept.8th, We went to a middle school which was for Special Needs and people who had pets. We have a small dog, so we registered with th shelter five years ago. When we went to the shelter they told us that it was for safety, not comfort. They was right on both accounts. The principal was the person in charge. He,along with security, the animal control and several volunteers did an EXCELLENT job. The dogs were kept in crates after 8 pm in the boys locker room and the cats in girls locker room along with a bunny. All in crates. Not much sleep as some dogs were not used to crates, barked all night. One mama dog gave birth to 4 pups doing Sun. the day of the hurricane. The 1st one was named IRMA and the 2nd one was named CANE. All made the local news. We were in the gym and slept on the floor. On Sun. the day of hurricane the gym looked like the Ky. Derby infield. Very crowed but safe. When arriving back at our mobile home court we saw that some units had their roofs blown off. 3 units had trees on them and had major damage. We had no electricty and no water for 2 days. However on Tues. as we all were helping clean up the park we decided to have Bar-B-Que sandwiches at the rec. hall at 6pm, as 2 families had gas stoves. However our electricity came on at 4 15 pm. We had A.C. and water. We all felt like we had won the lottery. Our place was not damaged and we did not lose any of our food. There is much more to share. Thanks for all of your prayers. Sure was nice seeing everbody at July dinner. Bye for now God Bless Eddie and Karen Briggs
