Donald Ray Whitley
May 7, 1940 - July 11, 2021
- Donald Ray Whitley went to be with his Heavenly Father, on Friday, July 16th at the age of 81, surrounded by his family. Don was a long time active member at Southeast Christian Church. During his life he enjoyed playing football in highschool and college and later he coached youth and highschool football. Don also served in many roles at his church. His favorite pastime by far was spending time with his family and friends. Everyone who knew him described him as a kind, gentle-hearted, friendly man with a big smile and a twinkle in his eye.
- Don was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Ervin Whitley and Tincie Newton Taylor.
- He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Joan C. (Mueller) Whitley, daughters Tammy Holbrook (Jeff) and Beth Barton (Todd), sister Wendy Crist (Dan) and brother Buddy Whitley (Dollie), 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, Taylor (Tara), Whitley (Matt), Gunnar, Max, Issi, and Tate, great grandchildren Ryman, Haynes, Lennox, and Huxley. He has also survived by an extended family he loved dearly.
- Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 21st from 3-7pm and Thursday, July 22nd from 12-1pm with service to follow at 1pm. The service will be held at Southeast Christian Church - Crestwood Campus 6201 Crestwood Station, Crestwood Ky 40014 Service being conducted by Bob Russell.
