- After graduation from SHS, I went to the Vanderbilt School of Nursing and my children are amazed that I graduated in "just" four years. While there, I met my husband of nearly 44 years, Gary Smith. We have had a wonderful and blessed life---never a dull moment. We have three children-Brad who is 43, Julie who will soon be the big 40, and Matt who is almost 34.We have five grandchildren who truly live up to their name---They ARE grand. As the old saying goes, I wish that I had had them first.
- The Smiths have moved 13 times. Gary was an executive for General Motors and retired after 37 years .We have lived in Michigan twice, Georgia twice, Texas twice, and thankfully, Ohio only one time. I have worked on a part time basis since having the children, mostly for the children's pediatricians. Prior to that, I worked at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. My final nursing was with two opthalmologists, working in the clinic but mostly doing surgery with them. I retired in the late 90's.
- Gary has had many health issues since 1991 at which time he had a near fatal heart attack. As of now, he has 14 stents and his diabetes does not help the cardio-vascular disease situation.
- My health is improving after having a heart valve replacement, a TIA (mini-stroke), and some blood clotting disorders. Actually, I am in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in. HA
- Gary and I retired to a lake in northeast Texas. We enjoy water sports and fishing and Gary has a hunting lease adjoining our property. All of our family lives in Texas, but as you know, Texas is a huge state. They all love to come home, which makes me happy. We are both active in our church. Gary and I teach a Sunday School class. Actually, Gary does the teaching and I do the behind the scenes business that needs to be taken care of. We have made many dear friends through the years and are thankful for each one.
- I have many fond memories of the good old days in Louisville. After living in other states I have come to appreciate the magnitude of the beauty of Kentucky and the gentleness of those that I knew there.
- I know that the reunion will be great. My best to each of you.
