Bill Walker

  • I married Linda Robinson from Nashville TN in 1961. We had four children- Jeff born in 1964, Andy born in 1968, and Amanda and Alison (twin girls) born in 1975. Linda and I were divorced in 1980, and she passed away in 1996.
  • I was married a second time in 1981 to Judy Bradley from Newark OH. We were divorced in 1985. I have been single for the past 23 years.
  • My four children live in Hong Kong, Lexington KY, Providence RI, and Crestwood KY.
  • I have five grandchildren, ages 16, 13, 8, 8, and 6.
  • After graduating from Shawnee I attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington for my Freshman and Sophomore years. At the beginning of my Junior year, I transferred to the University of Louisville to complete my degree in Business Administration in June of 1962.
  • I am particularly thankful for my years at Shawnee, as the quality of teaching prepared me to complete college and embark on my business career.
  • The teaching and guidance I received at Shawnee, particularly the English teachers- Mary Catherine Coll, Elizabeth Ford, Bill Elkins, and Ed Lerding provided me with a base of resource that has greatly assisted me throughout my life. But I don’t mean to slight the other really fine teachers we benefited from at Shawnee- Mr Bagian, Ms Stark, Ms. Borgmann also stand out in my memory.
  • Upon graduating from U of L, I went to work for American Air Filter Company in Louisville. It was a great experience into a field of work that was just in its infancy in the 1960’s. I had the opportunity to work in several locations and in several disciplines within the company including Sales, Human Resources, and Engineering. After returning to Louisville in 1967 I left American Air Filter and entered a venture with another ex-employee of AAF.
  • We originally started a distribution company and then expanded into design and manufacturing of air filtration products and systems. We enjoyed very nice growth for quite a few years and opened sales offices and manufacturing locations, first across the United States, and later branching out globally with plants world wide.

  • In 1993 we sold our company Airguard Industries, to CLARCOR INC which was an organization active in varied types of filtration. My partner retired to Florida and I ended up staying with CLARCOR another 12 years, and retired in 1965 as Vice Chairman of the company. I left their Board of Directors a year later.
  • I feel extremely fortunate to have originally landed in a field of work that proved to be a very satisfying career throughout my lifetime. I worked with some really marvelous and talented people, enjoyed significant growth in our business operations, and literally got to “See the World” while carrying out my duties.
  • Since retiring in 2005, I have pursued my life long hobby of raising and racing thoroughbred horses. I have always enjoyed horse racing and have expanded into the breeding business in the past few years.
  • I also stay busy with a company that I acquired that is in the hydroponic agriculture business, growing lettuces, herbs and spices, basil, edible flowers and micro-greens. Currently we are located in Louisville and are opening a new location in Clarksville IN later this year.
  • I am also fulfilling a life long dream of owning a restaurant. I am a partner in Corbett’s at Old Brownsboro Crossing which we opened in December 2007.
  • I remain an avid University of Louisville fan and supporter- GO CARDS!!!
  • I split my time these days between Louisville and my home in Florida. I have been very blessed with a wonderful family, great friends, and a career that I truly enjoyed. I continue to travel to visit family, follow THE CARDS, and just check out some new places.
