  • Wow! I have never tried to communicate much about my family or me to folks who represent a time and place that is such a fond memory in my life. The West end was a special place during our school years. It's that old worn story, "If I had only known then". Let me admit to not realizing how special that place and our time was, to being immature at an age when I thought I was so smart, and to good feelings now as I recall and remember as we were then.
  • In 1965 I married my college sweetheart and we will be celebrating our forty-third anniversary a few weeks before the reunion. Donna is a remarkable person validated by a long list of unique professional accomplishments, being the center of our family, and my love and best friend. She is now also retired and is with our grandchildren almost daily and takes them on several trips a year.
  • Our daughter Kellie is a fine teacher, taking time off to raise her children, five year old twins Joshua and Jordan, two year old Hollee, and husband Matt. She isn't entirely away from teaching though as she regularly teaches children's Sunday school, and a couple days a week at a church preschool.
  • Our son Travis is an ER physician and lives in Louisville. He is single; "Dad when have I had time to develop a serious relationship". Up until recently it was Major Travis Hawkins, U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command spending about five years in special forces. Too many emotions during those years to write about.

  • As for me, I am often reminded of a friend who died years ago much too early in his life who often said, "I am sipping from the saucer". All in all life is very good. A few bumps in the road that we all have, but rewarding and satisfying. I had the opportunity to hold executive leadership positions in three different careers and just retired finally from my last position in January. I still do a little consulting and volunteering and enjoy fishing and a revival of target shooting. I'm sure I would be better at shooting if I could remember where the range was, see the target, and stop my hand from quivering. We live on several acres in central Kentucky so there is a lot of outdoors time.
  • I hope to see many of you at the reunion and I will be silently resentful of you guys who still need to go to barbershops.
