  • Louisville - Joseph Dale Broadhurst, Jr., 80 of Louisville passed away on November 16th, 2021, at Norton Healthcare Pavilion after an extended illness. Mr. Broadhurst was a graduate of Eastern High School and the University of Louisville J. B. Speed School of Engineering as a mechanical engineer. He was an engineer for the Logan Company where he held several US and foreign patents for his designs. He was also president of Conveyor Specialties in Nashville, TN, Logan Company in Louisville, KY and Integrated Material Handling Company in Oshkosh, WI. Joe proudly served in the United States Marine Corps on Security Duty in Africa and was a Permanent Life Member of the Marine Corps League Kentuckiana Detachment #729. His avocation was flying, and he was a Certified Commercial Pilot with Instrument and Multi-Engine ratings.

 

 

 

 

  • He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Broadhurst, Sr. (Irene); mother, Earline Stewart Broadhurst Nussbaum (Herman); daughter, Laura; sisters, Jeanine Springer, Claudia Golt, Janice Posey.
  • He is survived by his loving wife and faithful caregiver, Amy; daughter, Jennifer Paul (Mike) of Catonsville, MD; grandson, Jacob Wetzel of Nashville, TN; brothers, Mark Nussbaum of Louisville, KY, Karl Nussbaum (Sheryle) of Woodstock, GA; sisters, Pam Mallard (Mike) of Cincinnati, OH, Shirlee Smith of Charleston, AR, Robin Nussbaum of Taylor, MI; constant canine companions, Missy, Linus and Peanut. He is also survived by many close friends, especially Carl Recke (Kay), Eric Sommer (Sherie), Debbie Apker (Tom), Cathy Dahlem (Jim).
  • "My spirit will last forever. Semper Fidelis! For I was, am, and shall forever be a United States Marine."
