  • Thomas (Tom) Richard Kurk passed away the morning of 05 December 2023 due to health related issues. He was born 26 Octobe 1942 to Arthur (Art) L. and Constance (Connie) Kurk, both of Louisville. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1960 and continued studies to graduate from Speed Engineering School in 1965 with a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a career civil servant, working for the US Navy at the Naval Air Warfare Center in Indianapolis where he was awarded several patents. He was an avid amateur radio (“ham”) operator, N9KB later changed to KU9RK.

  • He married Betty Ann (Cookie) Able in 1963, with whom he had four children: Linda, Andy, David and Edward. He was precede in death by his daughter Linda and is survived by his wife Cookie; three sons, Michael “Andy” Kurk (Shanda), David N. Kurk (Christine), and Edward I. Kurk; three grandchildren, Jonathan McMonigle, Reagan Gamache (Brian), Elise Kurk; and one great grandchild, Alistair McMonigle.
  • Funeral arrangements are as follows:
  • Viewing at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville: Sunday, December 10th, 4:00-7:30 p Funeral Service: Monday, December 11th, 11:00 am at Concordia Lutheran Church, 1127 E. Broadway, Louisville. Internment immediately following at Cave Hill Cemetery.
  • In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "Concordia Lutheran Church", please note: "In memory of Thomas (Tom) Kurk".
