Carl Wayne Geary, 78, of Crystal River, FL, passed away on Wed., May 5, 2021 at Vitas Healthcare in Lecanto, FL. A native of Moorman, KY, he was born Dec. 8, 1942 to Edgar and Marjorie (Hendricks) Geary, one of five children. Wayne, as he was known to everyone, served his country honorably and proudly in both the United States Navy and the United States Army. He served in the U.S. Navy as a machinist's mate and was responsible for the desalination of water aboard several ships, including the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42). He then served in the U.S. Army as a cook. Wayne then began a 30 year career as a locomotive engineer with Norfolk Southern Railroad of Louisville, KY. Mr. Geary was a 50 plus year member of The American Legion in Jeffersonville, IN and also a Life Member of the VFW. Wayne was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the Silver Street United Methodist Church, New Albany, IN. Wayne's perfect day would center around walking his dog in one hand, enjoying a Diet Pepsi in the other hand, and being surrounded by as many of his children and grandchildren as possible, as he dearly loved all kids. Wayne moved to Crystal River in 2005 from Austin, IN with his beloved wife Judy Creech Geary, with whom he shared 26 years, and who survives him. Wayne and Judy became faithful and devoted members of the Homosassa Lions Club, volunteering their time to various committees and fundraisers for the Lions.
