- William Joseph Darnell, 74 of Lake Wales, Florida passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. He was born February 6, 1942 in Beech Grove, Indiana to the late William and Florence(Heitze) Darnell. He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for American State Insurance, before retiring after 33 years. He was a longtime resident of Monrovia, Indiana prior to moving to Lake Wales, Florida. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Mooresville, Indiana, The Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales, Florida. He was a man of many traits, a “Mister fix it”. He loved helping others work on cars, things around the house, his community, and his church. He was a hardworking man whom loved to give. When he did settle down he loved to sit and reminisce with the men in the neighborhood on his porch. Above all else his pride and joys in life were his family. His loving personality and infectious kind soul will be missed by many. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 yeas Loretta (Buss) Darnell, to whom he married on October 17, 1970; 3 daughters Regina (Brad) Speck of Mooresville, IN, Tammie Trosper of Martinsville, IN, and Rebecca (Mike) Thomas of Anderson, IN; 8 grandchildren Kevin, Steven, Danielle, Damon, Michael, Clinton, Dakota and Cheyenne, and 7 great grandchildren. Family and Friends will gather and celebrate his life at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 10:30am until the service time at 11:30 am. Interment will be held at Lake Wales Memorial Gardens.
