- Mary Ellen lives in Cincinnati with her husband, Lloyd Scott. They have three children, Janet (Scott) Powell, Angelo Scott, and Robin (Scott) Zigos.
- They also have eight grandchildren, Shawn Powell, Ryan Powell, Jessica Powell, Lindsey Powell, Tara Scott, Megan Zigos, Michael Zigos, and Rachel Zigos.
- She is a customer service representative for a large insurance company and enjoys writing poetry, playing organ, and collecting dolls.
- She says, "I am a published poet (member of International Poetry Society) and love to attend their convention held in different states. Also enjoy my big family as they all live within a few miles of me."
